Expansion brings renowned outdoor gear co. to Asheville
|
Fox Factory Holding Corp. announced plans to bring regional headquarter functions to Asheville, creating 47 new jobs over the next five years.
An industry leader, FOX designs and manufactures performance defining ride dynamics products for bicycles, on-road and off-road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles and other vehicles. Locating regional headquarters (including sales, finance, research & development, service, and distribution) in Asheville will facilitate continued growth in Eastern US and European markets for the bike division.
FOX joins a fast-growing community of over 30 manufacturers, distributors and outfitters in Western North Carolina producing bike, boat, camping, sports and adventure gear.
“Along with a very passionate mountain biking culture, we believe Asheville offers us the ability to tap into a top-notch talent pool to help us continue to improve our business in these functional areas," said Larry L. Enterline, FOX’s Chief Executive Officer.

"Human computer"/local entrepreneur to speak at WomanUP
|
When "Hidden Figures" rocketed onto the literary and cinematic scene, the story shown a light on the often overlooked work of African-American women at a key time in our nation's history. What you may not know is that one of those "human computers" highlighted in Margot Lee Shatterly's best-selling book has ties to Asheville. Dr. Christine Darden, retired NASA engineer, graduated from the Allen High School in Asheville.
We are thrilled to be able to shine a light on Dr. Darden and her story during the 2nd annual WomanUP Celebration on Nov. 28th. The event will also feature keynote speaker local entrepreneur Troylyn Ball of Asheville Distilling Company, who will share her story of overcoming personal and financial hardship and finding success through a strong dose of entrepreneurial spirit and perseverance.
At the celebration, we will be honoring outstanding women professionals in our community. Please consider nominating a colleague or woman business leader in Asheville/Buncombe for one of three awards: the Woman Entrepreneur, Best in Business Award; Outstanding Woman in Non-Profit Leadership; and Woman Executive of the Year. Nominations are due today - Friday, Oct. 20th.

Mega Networking fosters connections
|
One hundred and four people enter the room with 13 tables. Each person is given a unique rotation schedule. The result is a dance of connection we call Mega Networking, held last week. At the end of the morning each person has visited each table and met everyone in the room. The structure fosters business connections and enables participants to learn about other Asheville businesses.
