Local Blues Festival Season Kicks Off

This is the week....the amazing Eureka Springs Blues Weekend is off and running! If you missed the opening night concert last night featuring Damon Fowler, there is SO much more coming your way! Friday the gates open at noon with music starting at 1pm with Ozark Blues Society's Solo Blues Challenge winner, Jimmy Wayne Garrett. Gates open at noon on both Saturday and Sunday with an awesome mix of local favorites like Isayah's Allstars, The Cate Brothers, Divas On Fire, and Brick Fields as well as a number of amazing nationally known acts. Once you get your excitement pumped up, head on down next weekend to Fort Smith for the Riverfront Blues Festival and then just a week after that we are being treated to the first annual Hot-Dam Blues Festival in Bella Vista. With a great
group of music oriented people and organizations focusing on bringing
more live music to Bella Vista it will
be a not to be missed event for
the 4th of July weekend.

Have you looked? The lineup for the 2016 Eureka Springs Blues Weekend is nothing short of AMAZING!!
Music starts at 1pm Friday to Sunday
on the main stage at Turpentine Creek and moves to partner stages all
around town in the evening.
It's not too late to make plans to attend! Hearing awesome blues and supporting the protection of amazing animals through the partnership between Eureka Springs Blues Weekend and Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge is a win-win opportunity. Hot-Dam Blues Festival
|
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the first annual Bella Vista Hot-Dam Blues Festival. Sponsored by the Bella Vista Foundation, The City of Bella Vista Arts Council, and The Bella Vista POA, The Hot-Dam Blues Festival will be presented on Sunday, July 3rd, in the park below Lake Loch Lomond Dam from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Immediately following the Blues Festival, the City of Bella Vista will present their annual 4th of July fireworks. Entertainment will be provided by three great, Northwest Arkansas bands, including: Jim Mills and the Hellbenders, Joe Giles and the Homewreckers, and The Cate Brothers.
Admission and parking are free. Food and beverage will be available for purchase from five local food trucks
and the Bentonville Brewing Company
will host a beer garden.
The festival is also partnering with a
Bella Vista food pantry to collect food
for needy families. Spectators are
asked to bring nonperishable, canned
food items for donation.

As the summer kicks off be assured the Ozark Blues Society Board kicks into gear working behind the scenes to start preparing for our annual fall event, the Ozark Blues Society Blues Challenge. With the date locked down for
October 19, 2016

Just in case we have any new readers unsure as to the purpose of this event, it is the competition that is used to select the band and solo/duo acts we will send to Memphis for the International Blues Challenge. Bands and solo/duo acts who desire to compete in Memphis must win in a local competition sponsored by a blues society that is an affiliate of the Blues Foundation. Each affiliated society is allowed to send one band, one solo or duo, and one youth act.
