Blues News You Can Use!
I Know Where I'm Going to Be Tonight...
...And how about you? Three weeks from tonight I am going to be in Memphis volunteering as a venue coordinator for the International Blues Challenge semi-finals night.  For those of us at IBC we will already have enjoyed the two nights of quarter-finals and will be looking toward the night of finals on Saturday! ...but WAIT!  There are several more things to be accomplished here in Northwest Arkansas before our local challengers as well as fans hit the road for Memphis!  My to do list starts with tonight's Divas On Fire Happy Hour fundraiser at George's Majestic Lounge and wraps up with the final Ozark Blues Society Fundraiser at
the 21c Museum Hotel on January 23rd.
I hope to see many of you there too!

Many of you have already stepped up to helps and I want to take a moment to thank you for jumping in and supporting our local challenge winners and our society to fund this adventure. I know it is a cliche statement, but we couldn't do it without you! It is very clear that IBC contestants do best when they go to Memphis fully funded and READY to engage completely not only in the business of competing but also in the unrivaled opportunity to network with everybody who is anybody in the blues world. If you haven't had an opportunity to pitch in and help, it's not too late.  Read on for more information about current and upcoming fundraising efforts.

As we launch into 2016 I would like once more to ask artists and readers to please link me up to events you have or know about, especially if the events aren't posted to the local calendars. And of course if you have ideas or comments on this newsletter, you know the deal, e-mail me anytime at smccann7@sbcglobal.net

UPDATE
Jimmy Wayne Garrett
Not Too Far From Mississippi CD Project

An ANNOUNCEMENT was made this week by Jimmy Wayne Garrett that all profits from ONLINE SALES of his new CD will be donated to Blues In The Schools.  Jimmy is an avid supporter and regular performer for Ozark Blues Society's educational outreach. Please support his endeavors through his GoFundMe account or through the purchase of a copy of his new CD.  Email Jimmy at gypsymagik3@gmail.com for more information.
As an artist who has been to the International Blues Challenge, Jimmy Wayne Garrett knows that there is much more to the experience than just being in the competition. Jimmy knows that having a CD of your work to share with promoters and to sell to new fans is a BIG benefit. Jimmy will be participating in the January 23rd Road to Memphis Fundraiser, however funds raised that night will be used by Ozark Blues Society to pay lodging costs for Jimmy in Memphis.  So, let's step up and show Jimmy some love by helping support his fundraising efforts that are needed to produce his CD. Check out the link below to share your support.
