Webb Wilder :: MISSISSIPPI MODERNE
Mississippi Moderne is the all new album from veteran roots rocker, Webb Wilder on Landslide Records. A 2011 inductee into the Mississippi Musicians Hall Of Fame, Wilder has crafted a lively recording that pays homage to his home state through a striking set of originals, coupled with distinctive cover renditions that stretch from tunes by the Kinks to Charlie Rich and Jimmy Reed. Given superb backing from his highly accomplished and longtime bandmates, the Beatnecks (Tom Comet, bass, Bob Williams, guitar, and Jimmy Lester, drums), Mississippi Moderne captures the full flavor of Wilder’s raucous style, based on his singular baritone vocal delivery, solid guitar, a tight, punchy rhythmic foundation and some surprising touches of the heart added in as well. Clarence “The Blues Man” Turner :: THE CASTER BLASTER
Ringo Starr once expressed the cliché “You’ve got to pay your dues if you want to sing the blues.” However, it contains a grain of truth as surviving the sorrows as well as celebrating the joys of life contributes emotional depth to the real life blues music of singer, guitarist, bassist, drummer, songwriter Clarence “The Blues Man” Turner. Following his debut Pay Day (2012), the Washington, D.C. area multi-talented artist and winner of numerous awards presents what will be his deserved breakthrough release, The Caster Blaster. Eight originals and three covers receive backing from Sean Graves (drums), Charles Pearson (keyboards), David Satterwhite (bass), Gene Meros (saxophones) and Gary Hendrickson (trumpet).

Getting The Blues
RICHMOND, VA- Thanks to the efforts of some local music lovers, Goochland County students have been getting an education in the history and cultural significance of Blues music. And, according to county teachers, the project has been a hit.

As part of the Blues in the Schools (BITS) program, an effort by members of the Richmond-based River City Blues Society, celebrated musicians from the Richmond area and beyond have been visiting county classrooms to perform and share their appreciation for the Blues.

Goochland High School teacher Elizabeth Pearson, whose students were recently treated to a performance by musician Bruce Katz and his band, said the program melds seamlessly into the curriculum and helps capture students’ attention and imagination in a way few textbooks could.

St. Louis' Baby Blues Showcase Turns 14
ST. LOUIS. MO - The blues, it is often said, takes a lifetime. One may be born a musical prodigy or may soak up influences with the first breath, but a bluesman or blueswoman must live the music, and live it a hard, long time.
This romantic view may have a kernel of truth, but don't tell it to your record collection. The icons of the music — from B.B. King to Robert Johnson, Etta James to Eric Clapton — all began their careers, on the road and in the studio, in their youth. St. Louis' own Henry Townsend cut his first record in 1929, when he was just twenty.

The vitality and power of the blues, and its kindred genres, admit no ageism.

NOV 28-29 Radio Show: LED ZEPPELIN

Amazingly, they were together only 12 years, but Led Zeppelin crammed many lifetimes into their music and came out of it as perhaps the premiere rock band that ever lived. Awesome is still the word employed, I believe.
