Deb Callahan :: SWEET SOUL
Philadelphia’s blues-soul singer/songwriter Deb Callahan released her fifth CD, Sweet Soul, on Blue Pearl Records. The CD, produced by renowned producer and drummer Tony Braunagel, was recorded at Ultratone Studios in Los Angeles, California. Deb and guitar player Allen James travelled to Los Angeles in February 2015 to record the tracks with an all star studio line-up including Johnny Lee Schell, engineering and slide guitar, Mike Finnigan on keyboards, Reggie McBride on bass, Braunagel on drums and James on guitar. This group of musicians have recorded and toured with performers such as Etta James, Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal so it was, “a truly wonderful experience to play with and learn from each one,” says Deb. Lazer Lloyd (self-titled)
Lazer Lloyd, Israeli blues-rock singer/songwriter and guitarist Lazer Lloyd’s self-titled album, is packed with 11 new electric and acoustic original songs and a cover of Otis Redding’s “(Sittin’ on the) Dock of the Bay.” Released on CD and vinyl, Lazer Lloyd follows the critical success of his 2013 stripped-down acoustic solo album, Lost on the Highway and his 2012 electric CD, My Own Blues (chosen by the Israeli Blues Society’s for Best 2012 Blues Album). The new album was written and recorded in two Tel Aviv studios (Sonic and Papa) during a period of intense songwriting throughout 2014. Lazer gives voice to his experiences shuttling between a demanding touring schedule on the stages of Israel, as well as in Russia and North America. Find more details about this release

"Way Down in Louisiana" celebrates Clifton Chenier and his star-studded legacy
Author Todd Mouton’s Way Down in Louisiana celebrates the king of Zydeco, Clifton Chenier and his star-studded legacy. The trailblazing roots music pioneer and his influence on Cajun, zydeco and swamp-pop music are amplified with in-depth profiles of dozens of musicians and culture-bearers from Sonny Landreth to Buckwheat Zydeco.
“'In Way Down in Louisiana,' Todd Mouton introduces you to the storytellers: the stars, preservationists, and seekers who have mastered their heritage, then fought to keep it natural and true while taking it forward and way over the state lines. This is journalism, vigorously researched and intimately reported.” – from the Foreword by David Fricke
Like Muddy Waters and Bob Marley, Clifton Chenier (1925-1987) brought the music of his home to international prominence. Find more details about this book and CD
