BRITTANIE DECHINO FROM FLOW YOGA in DC (My Dharma Mentor)
10 - 11:30 am: Vinyasa, 3 - 4 pm: Satsang and 4 - 5:30 pm: Dharma III/IV
Brittanie DeChino, MS, E-RYT 500, has studied many styles of yoga in her 15+ years as a yogi: Jivamukti, Vinyasa, Kundalini, Ashtanga, Anusara, Restorative, etc. Oddly enough, when she met her teacher, Sri Dharma Mittra, in 2010, she couldn't figure out what she had been doing until that point! Being in the loving presence of Sri Dharma (as often as possible, she goes to New York at least 2 times a month for classes) has helped her evolve into a calm, steady and even more joyful teacher. She began teaching yoga in 2005, to her colleagues in the conference room of their Music Law Firm in New York City. Since then, she’s earned a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology (GWU), taken multiple 200-hour teacher trainings, and completed her 500- and 800-hour programs with master yogi, Sri Dharma Mittra, who is a disciple of Swami Kailashananda (a/k/a Yogi Gupta). Brittanie is living a life of service and is thankful for the opportunity to live out her dharma in this way. She teaches group yoga & Pilates classes and small group/private lessons. She is on Faculty in Sri Dharma Mittra’s Life of a Yogi Teacher Training program (NYC) and is the Director of Teacher Training at Flow Yoga Center in DC. She guest teaches at many local teacher trainings in the DC Metro area and leads 1-3 retreats per year (international and within the Continental US). She is also an adjunct professor of Stress Management at GWU. She is thankful for the opportunity to seek Self-Realization while on the path of a Householder and is forever grateful for her supportive family, especially her partner, Christopher, and their dog, Molly.
Brittanie's teaching style: Brittanie is a calm, steady and joyful teacher who assimilates classical yoga philosophy with modern-day Western life. Her classes give students space to experience the practice in their own way – you’ll often hear her say “move according to your conditions.” So the class may feel challenging and intense, soft and nurturing, or meditative and focused. Or all of the above! She uses her intuition as an experienced teacher to ensure each class serves what the students need. All her yoga classes incorporate the 8-limbs of Hatha Raja yoga, so if you are looking to learn a bit more about the holistic practice of yoga, in addition to the poses, this is a great class for you! At the end of class, especially after the long relaxation, you’ll feel balanced, steady, and grounded. Her Pilates and Vinyasa classes include innovative and inspiring playlists, while her Dharma classes are quieter and more meditative. All her classes incorporate breathwork and will make you feel stronger, more flexible, and happier!
So grateful to have Brittanie at In Balance Yoga for the day to share her knowledge and spirit! Join us on Sunday, 1/31, for one of her three classes:
10 - 11:30 am: Vinyasa
3 - 4 pm: Satsang (Kirtan, spiritual discussion, meditation & chanting)
4 - 5:30 pm: Dharma III/IV Intermediate Vinyasa
* Drop-In Rate to attend any of Brittanie's classes.
