Kevin Gordon :: LONG GONE TIME
Hailed by The New York Times as "part Muddy Waters and part Carl Perkins," erudite, swampy southern songwriter Kevin Gordon will release his new album Long Gone Time on September 4. His first release since 2012's critically acclaimed Gloryland, Long Gone Time is half-acoustic and half-electric, bridging Gordon's introspective, detailed Southern poetry (he has an MFA from the prestigious University of Iowa Writer's Workshop) with his biting, boozy, honky-tonk shuffle and swagger. Produced by multi-instrumentalist and Dove Award-winner Joe McMahan (Mike Farris, Freedy Johnston, Allison Moorer), it's an intoxicating blend of the intellectual and visceral delivered with sticky-sweet guitars and barroom piano. Corte’ :: SEASONED SOUL
Performing blues and R&B with bona-fide conviction requires more than chops, knowledge or even love of the world-renown American genres. No, it takes guts to get the glory, especially for a singer who must literally pull the music from his soul as opposed to his fingers. Veteran powerhouse vocalist Al Corte’ actually once suffered a hernia from belting with extraordinary exertion! Fortunately, such extreme measures were unnecessary to produce the thrilling, spirit-nourishing Seasoned Soul.

Producer Jerry Bone (guitar, bass, horn patches, harp, organ), his son Lennon (drums), Ron Miller (piano, strings), Charlie Chalmers on Sax and Sarah Jo Roark (background vocals) provide idiomatic backing on 10 killer classics.

Promoter’s Passion Brings Blues to the Masses and Hope to a Community Sept 26-27

SAN DIEGO, CA - On a recent visit to San Diego, California I had the opportunity to sit down with Michael Kinsman, founder and producer of the Aim.Loan.com San Diego Blues Festival.

The festival was founded in 2011 to provide great blues music at an affordable price with the hope to raise money to help support the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank. The venture has been extremely successful not only providing the best in blues music, but also making a difference helping the community. In the festival’s first four years they have received more than 18 tons of food and raised more than $350,000 to help the Food Bank fight hunger in San Diego County.
