Duke Robillard :: THE ACOUSTIC BLUES & ROOTS OF...
The Acoustic Blues & Roots of Duke Robillard, a very special album on Stony Plain Records from the two-time Grammy nominee and multi Blues Music Award winning guitarist, focuses on the music that has informed his over 50-year career as a performing artist, bandleader and producer of seminal American roots music. The Acoustic Blues & Roots of Duke Robillard was recorded primarily at Duke’s own Mood Room studio, with additional work done at Lakewest Recording and some live recording done at the Blackstone River Theater in Cumberland, Rhode Island. “This project has been about a decade in the making for various reasons I won't go into here,” Duke Robillard says in the liner notes about the sessions for the new CD.“ As many of you know, I am, and always have been, a huge fan of American roots music in its entirety.

Mardi Gras 2016 is Tuesday, February 9 which means Outrageous Parades, Costumes &… Music!
Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday marks a time to celebrate in many places. It’s a time to party and may include a parade and costumes and music… you got to have music (and probably some beads at least)! Your own town is no doubt having something cool going on and several musical artists will be helping you laissez les bons temps for sure! From Buffalo, New York to the Carnaval de Mardi Gras & Gumbo Cook-Off in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to Mobile, Alabama, to St. Louis, Houston, San Francisco and all points in between, festive Mardi Gras/Carnival-style events will be going on from now until Fat Tuesday.
While it’s impossible to list all the musical events, we decided to at least dig around a bit to find some websites that could give you an insight to the basic Mardi Gras scene and things to do in New Orleans, the place where this celebration is probably the most famous. Here’s a few we found:

How To Dance The Blues On Thomas Street
DUBLIN, Ireland - Last Thursday evening, as we made our way to our first blues-dancing class in Arthur’s on Thomas Street, my friend Siobhán and I reminisced about our previous experience with dance lessons. A hip-hop workshop in transition year of secondary school. Twitchy moves and flailing limbs. We’ve clung to more academic pursuits since.
These memories trigger some niggles and doubts. What even is blues dancing? Will I be able for it? Am I dressed right for a dance class in a bar?
Unsure how I’d get on, I climbed the stairs with Siobhán and ducked under the heavy red and gold curtains into the upstairs lounge.
