Blues News You Can Use!
The News From Beale Street
As I write this Friday morning just hours after the announcement of which acts are going on to the semi-final round, I first want to say that Northwest Arkansas was well represented in the quarter-final competition this year.  Ozark Blues Society is proud and our supporters should be as well. The unfortunate news is that as wonderful and well received as our acts were they did not advance to the semi-final competition. The real truth is that every act at IBC is a winner. Our quote this week from last year's winner, Eddie Cotton, pretty much nails it.  It is most definitely a challenge to win.  Several acts from the AR/OK/MO region have moved on to the next round. If you want to keep tabs on them and find the the latest and greatest info on how the challenge is going be sure and visit the
page at Blues.org for the latest news.

Finally a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who stepped up to help support these worthy musicians prepare for the IBC. I will say it for them, "We couldn't have done it without you!"

Also of note, if you are not a member or if you missed the announcement of the Ozark Blues Society annual meeting and elections, check out the message from Bill Baird below.

As we launch into 2016 I would like to once more to ask artists and readers to please link me up to events you have or know about, especially if the events aren't posted to the local calendars. And of course if you have ideas or comments on this newsletter, you know the deal, e-mail me anytime at smccann7@sbcglobal.net

"It (IBC) was a very hard competition to win, because it was not just about being a good player....there are a lot of great independent artists who have their eyes on the IBC; it has awakened sleeping giants."
