The Stone Foxes :: TWELVE SPELLS
|
|
The Stone Foxes are a blues-influenced rock n roll band with one objective: “We’re 6 dudes who believe rock n roll can move mountains, and we’re gonna play it until we move one.” They are perhaps best known for their blistering cover of Slim Harpo's "King Bee."
They hail from San Francisco and with the release of their fourth album, Twelve Spells, they have solidified a place in the city's rich rock n roll history. They’ve played in front of thousands at festivals like Outside Lands and VooDoo Fest, they’ve headlined the legendary Fillmore Theater in their hometown and have supported acts like The Black Keys, Cage the Elephant and ZZ Top. This is San Francisco’s rock band; bearing the torch of their predecessors and ready to shake the earth.

The Lucky Losers (featuring Cathy Lemons & Phil Berkowitz) :: A WINNING HAND
|
Veteran blues vocalist Cathy Lemons (Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Lee Hooker, Anson Funderburgh) has teamed with harmonica master and vocalist Phil Berkowitz (Sean Carney, Billy Branch) to return the duet to blues and roots music. Their unique, modern approach to classic blues and R&B combines compelling originals with new takes on rarely recorded covers. The outstanding A Winning Hand, produced by Kid Andersen at Greaseland Studios, includes guest artists Kid Andersen, the legendary Steve Freund, 2015 IBC Best Guitarist winner Ben Rice, and more. This auspicious debut is a winner that’s poised to make its mark on the blues world at large.
The album’s wide range of influences include Chicago and Texas blues, Stax/Volt-styled soul, blues rock, jazz, and New Orleans funk. ...Find more about this release

Saying Farewell to Blind Pig Records
|
We’re going to miss our dear friends at Blind Pig and that’s an understatement! So many wonderful memories of these industry stalwarts’ and their devotion to the music we love. They have been part of our family for many years and now they are closing their offices. We recently got this bittersweet announcement.
Message from Edward Chmelewski and Jerry Del Giudice, Co-Founders of Blind Pig Records:
“Blind Pig Records got its start in a very small basement blues club called the Blind Pig Café in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1977 and grew to become, as Billboard magazine put it, “one of the pre-eminent specialty labels in the world.”
Now, after a very great, rewarding, and challenging thirty-eight year run we are closing down the San Francisco and Chicago offices and turning the keys to the Pig Pen over to The Orchard, a fine, forward-looking organization that will care for the legacy of the label. ...
