Blues News You Can Use!
Welcome to December
So for the beginning of December I would say most of us are happy to deal with a bit of a nip in the air when we have the sun shining so brightly! (All you snow lovers please disregard the last statement, lol!) As many of us click into the countdown to Christmas and fill our calendar with holiday events with friends and family it seems wise that live local music kind of slows down another notch. There may be less of the raucous, outdoor music that befits the blues so well, but many of your favorite groups have smaller spin off solo, duos, or even trios that play some of the smaller venues around town. I do believe I am missing some of these groups since their group name often varies as I make the calendar so PLEASE let me know if you notice your favorite group missing.

Also, please don't overlook supporting the Fayetteville Senior Center Christmas Party on December 17th.  We'll get to hear some great blues and soul from the Leah Spears-Blackmon and the Mojo Doctor's Duo then the night will end with a Christmas sing-along.  Why not come by and enjoy the music and good company!
You know the deal, e-mail me anytime at smccann7@sbcglobal.net

IMPORTANT NEW UPDATE!
Support Your NWA Representatives on the Road to IBC in Memphis!

Hang with me on this topic....but it's really what we are talking about at Ozark Blues Society so once again it is going to be "held over" again this week.  Keep an eye on future editions of this newsletter and check our website HERE
for information about ways you can
root our local winners on as they
prepare their Memphis ready, smokin' hot blues music sets. Read on for
ways to help Ozark Blues Society send our winners to Memphis.

The Divas on Fire will be hosting several fundraiser. Mark your calendar for one of the hottest nights to be found in January when the Divas host Happy Hour on January 8, 2016  at George's Majestic Lounge. Proceeds from this fundraiser will go 100% to support the immense effort required to fund the cost of taking an 11-piece group to Memphis for IBC. Regional folks, keep an eye on the Divas Facebook Page as rumor has it there will be some chances to come out and support the Divas...maybe in YOUR neighborhood! Secondly, there will be a fundraiser to support the Ozark Blues Society's contributions toward sponsoring the IBC acts. This event will feature the Jimmy Wayne Garrett and two other bands and will be held January 23, 2016 at 21c Museum Hotel. Take my word for it, if you have not attended one of our events at the 21c Hotel in Bentonville you are missing a fun, fun night!  Why not book a room and make it even more of a night to remember! Keep a watch on this newsletter for more information. Of course you may always share your support by donating through our website directly or via Facebook! There will also be some fun ways to give painlessly through silent auctions and other events, some of which will benefit the artists directly.  Keep watching!

Merry Christmas to  Fayetteville Senior Citizens
Ozark Blues Society is excited to share that we are partnering with the Fayetteville Senior Center to help host their Christmas Party.  Blues for Christmas?  Well, historically blues music was a way to express discontent, but for this party we are pulling out the stops and it will be FUN! The party will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, December 17th, with music for the evening provided by Leah Spears-Blackmon and her Mojo Doctor's Duo. We will wrap up the party with a carol sing-along.  Young people from the Camp War Eagle Ozone program will share their commitment to community outreach and join us.  If you think this sounds like fun and you would like to help make it a success, please email Cheryl Canfield at canfiel@uark.edu for more information.
