Blues News You Can Use!
Turkey Day Hang Over
Well, it's the Friday after Thanksgiving....what does it mean to you?  Just a plain, lazy day letting your full belly settle or a frenzied Black Friday shopping day where you work off those extra calories taking the challenge of the crowds? Or maybe for some it is just back to work as usual.

With all the post holiday challenges, don't forget that there are some tried and true weekly live music opportunities here in NWA that are not to be missed.  No matter what your Black Friday activities might be, you might want to save enough energy to go to George's Majestic tonight for Happy Hour. George's is featuring a couple local favorites: The Big Uns and Isayah's Allstars. Certainly something good for a rainy Friday night!

With patio season fully over at this point I still feel like I am missing performances when I do the calendar each week. Please, please, please if you don't see your favorite band or venue listed, and/or have thoughts on live music listings I can follow for additions to our calendar let me know! I currently harvest information from a variety of local listings and a few venues websites but I could sure use help finding things I am missing. You know the deal, e-mail me anytime at smccann7@sbcglobal.net

UPDATED!
Support Your NWA Representatives on the Road to IBC in Memphis!

Because this topic is SO important it is going to be "held over" again this week.  Keep an eye on future editions of this newsletter and check our website HERE
for information about ways you can
root our local winners on as they
prepare their Memphis ready, smokin' hot blues music sets. Read on for
ways to help Ozark Blues Society send our winners to Memphis.

The first fundraiser will be one hosted by the Divas On Fire at their January 8, 2016 Happy Hour performance at George's Majestic Lounge. Proceeds from this fundraiser will go 100% to support the immense effort required to fund the cost of taking an 11-piece group to Memphis for IBC.
Secondly, details are still coming together but it looks like the main fundraiser to support Ozark Blues Society contributions toward sponsoring the IBC acts will be held in mid-January at 21c Museum Hotel either the weekend of the January 16th or 23rd.  Keep a watch on this newsletter for more information. Of course you may always share your support by donating through our website directly or via Facebook! There will also be some fun ways to give painlessly through silent auctions and other events, some of which will benefit the artists directly.  Keep watching!

Merry Christmas to  Fayetteville Senior Citizens
Ozark Blues Society is excited to share that we are partnering with the Fayetteville Senior Center to help host their Christmas Party.  Blues for Christmas?  Well, historically blues music was a way to express discontent, but for this party we are pulling out the stops and it will be FUN! The party will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, December 17th, with music for the evening provided by Leah Spears-Blackmon and her Mojo Doctor's Duo. We will wrap up the party with a carol sing-along.  Young people from the Camp War Eagle Ozone program will share their commitment to community outreach and join us.  If you think this sounds like fun and you would like to help make it a success, please email Cheryl Canfield at canfiel@uark.edu for more information.
