Over the River
and Through the Woods

Love it or hate it we are starting the season of family...and food! Here's to hoping your season kicks off this next week with the warmest of memories. Between the family and friends, eating and shopping, hopefully you will have a moment to get out and enjoy some of the fine live music that our area offers. Perhaps you are looking for something a bit more traditional for your holidays. One often overlooked local venue is the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall on the University of Arkansas Campus.
This time of year the hall regularly hosts student and faculty recitals as well as various visiting groups. Check out the hall
With the Thanksgiving Holiday this coming week, the calendar is once more a bit light. Still weekly favorites like Happy Hour at George's Majestic Lounge are still on the schedule. Of course if you don't see your favorite band or venue listed, let me know! I harvest information from a variety of local listings and a few venues websites but I could sure use help finding things I am missing. I only have a couple artists that regularly send me their schedules and I would be happy to hear from more! You know the deal, e-mail me anytime at smccann7@sbcglobal.net

Merry Christmas to Fayetteville Senior Citizens
|
Ozark Blues Society is excited to share that we are partnering with the Fayetteville Senior Center to help host their Christmas Party. Blues for Christmas? Well, historically blues music was a way to express discontent, but for this party we are pulling out the stops and it will be FUN! The party will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, December 17th, with music for the evening provided by Leah Spears-Blackmon and her Mojo Doctor's Duo. We will wrap up the party with a carol sing-along. Young people from the Camp War Eagle Ozone program will share their commitment to community outreach and join us. If you think this sounds like fun and you would like to help make it a success, please email Cheryl Canfield at canfiel@uark.edu for more information. |

HELD OVER!
How to Support Your NWA Representatives on the Road to Memphis!
|
Because this topic is SO important it is going to be "held over" in this newsletter for at least another week. Keep an eye on future editions of this newsletter and check our website HERE for information about ways you can not only enjoy the quality blues music our challenge winners present, but also ways to help send our winners to Memphis. Details are still coming together but you may want to mark your calendar for an event on January 8, 2016. Ozark Blues Society offers our Blues Challenge winners a handsome support package to help defray the cost of going to Memphis and competing in the International Blues Challenge in January. We will be hosting a fundraiser to assist in this support. Of course you may always share your support by donating through our website directly or via Facebook! There will also be some fun ways to give painlessly through silent auctions and other events, so which will benefit the artists directly. Keep watching!
Don't forget to follow our winners on their journeys!
