After carrying the blues around the world, from the Equator to the Arctic Circle, Guy Davis came back with some fresh inspiration and new stories to tell. Kokomo Kidd, his first self-produced recording, finds the blues ambassador visiting fresh territory. “It’s a new beginning for me,” he says, “The first time I produced myself. “What I‘m showing here is a side of me that’s deep inside. It’s needing air and light, and here it comes!”
His deft acoustic playing and well-crafted lyrics are here as always. Some songs find Davis calling on his gifts as an actor and storyteller, while others are personal as it gets. Find more details about this release

GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi Opening now set for early Mar 2016
|
CLEVELAND, MS - The new grand opening date for the GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi in Cleveland will be March 5-6, museum officials announced, putting the festivities mere weeks after the 2016 Grammy Awards.
The opening had originally been planned for this fall, but the intricacy of its complex exhibits delayed the completion date.
"The intricate details of the exhibits themselves are very complex and involve multiple process phases from start to finish," Lucy Janoush, president of the Grammy Museum Mississippi board of directors, said in a release. "In order to make this project the showcase it should be, consultants and contractors need more time to finish the exhibits."

Quinn Sullivan makes himself happy by playing the blues
|
Quinn Sullivan got his first guitar when he turned 3. Kind of. Noticing his deep love for music and his affinity for the guitar, his parents bought him a toy guitar — but that wasn’t enough for Quinn.
He worked on chord progressions and single-string picking on his own, he says in a phone interview from his New Bedford, Massachusetts, home, all the while begging his parents for a real guitar. By the time he was 6, he had a full-sized guitar and was performing regularly around the New England region.
Then Ellen DeGeneres called. To see the full significance of that call, we cut to the last conversation Chicago blues legend Buddy Guy had with his mentor, the inventor of the amplified Chicago blues and one of the last of the great generation of blues masters, Muddy Waters.
