Dear Creative Explorer,

Explaining how we get ideas is limited by the intellect's ability to grasp something so mysterious. Perhaps that's why Dr. Seuss invented the following flippant reply to "How do you get your ideas?"

"I get all my ideas in Switzerland near the Forka Pass. There is a little town called Gletch, and two thousand feet up above Gletch there is a smaller hamlet called Über Gletch. I go there on the fourth of August every summer to get my cuckoo clock fixed. While the cuckoo is in the hospital, I wander around and talk to the people in the streets. They are very strange people, and I get my ideas from them."

Such an elaborately silly answer makes sense when you understand Dr. Seuss's feelings about nonsense. He wrote, "I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope."  Fantasy is also a creative solution to answering a question that might otherwise annoy you, like Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss) did.

In the spirit of one of the world’s most beloved authors, a place called Über Bliss is now available for your pleasure, perhaps initiated by fantasy, yet a solid and real place with which you can depend. Jill will bring Über Bliss to your group to wake-up your creative spirit: your inner reserve of strength, peace, and resilience - the most necessary ingredients for happiness.

I have found my way to Über Bliss and I know there are others who want to experience this unique approach to lasting happiness as well. This isn't the illusion of happiness much of the world is under - that if you get the job, the house, the relationship, or the money you'll be happy, but the real definition of happiness - inner peace no matter WHAT is happening on the outside and the love of the mysterious process of creating at whatever your skill-level.

The association of mindfulness with creativity is not a new one:
  • Many writers and artists describe their participation in the creative flow as feeling they are a "vessel" for something greater than themselves. They experience flow and timelessness.
  • One of the most spiritually powerful acts a person can undertake is to create and feel it is a gift to do so. Creativity is a reward in and of itself.
  • Creativity and mindfulness are often seen as synonymous. We are inspired (moved by the divine or to a higher place) by creative expression, whether it is from ourselves or others.
  • When individuals persevere with the creative process, they not only produce something unique but more importantly, they earn spiritual rewards: resilience, patience, compassion, resourcefulness, courage, surrender, and serenity.
  • Both mindfulness and creativity can defy logic and when faith arises, the individual is admitted to a world far beyond the limitations of knowledge, a world of imaginative possibilities and higher vision.

Finding Über Bliss is:
  • a playful love affair with the power of creative passion to connect you to resources of wonder, inner peace, agelessness, grace, kindness, compassion, healing,  joy, your kindred tribe, and liberated creative inspiration. These are the foundations of bliss.
  • an opportunity to repair your cuckoo blocks - procrastination, resistance, perfectionism, distraction, self-sabotage, and crankiness.
  • a place where you get to be an artist of being alive.
Instead of a “Gletch,” this journey is about "Bliss" which is good because "gletch" sounds like what my cat says when he's got a hairball stuck in his throat.

An Example of an Über Bliss Teleconference
Hello... Let's go on a journey.

Topic:
Thinking Differently

Applicable Quote
A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.  ~Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Mini Inspiration Infusion:
I will talk about why thinking differently leads to both creativity AND happiness, examples, stories and quotes from creative people will be shared to inspire our own thoughts and actions. Thinking Differently is a tool that inspires new associations, ideas, and amusement. It is also practice with developing a different perspective – seeing our world with new eyes can make the difference between grumpiness and bliss. It takes practice for this tool to endure.

Mini Small Step During the Call:
Engaging in a short, fun creative exercises to practice thinking differently for both creativity and happiness, optional sharing.
Short guided relaxation to cultivate your inner world.

Mini Mission for the Week:
Choose a subject and choose your approach:

  • Write about it from five different angles (for example- explain it to a UFO, have it talk to you, write about it as if this is the last time you’ll ever see it ,
  • Sketch it five different ways or with 5 different media: crayons, pencils, with your non-dominant hand, as an abstract,
Or photograph it five different ways .. See Lemons Above
