Ghost Town Blues Band :: HARD ROAD TO HOE
Hard Road To Hoe is the third release from 2014 International Blues Challenge 2nd place finishers and Memphis, Tennessee’s very own Ghost Town Blues Band. This twelve-song record, lead by front man Matt Isbell, is an enormous explosion of blues and roots music from Memphis, though the hills of North Mississippi, down the Big Muddy all the way to New Orleans.
Recorded on 2” tape, chalked full of horns, organ, piano, cigar box guitars, harmonica from 3-time BMA nominee Brandon Santini and even featuring push broom and shovel percussion, this album was recorded in the newly renovated Ardent Studios-Studio C by 6-time Grammy Nominated Producer and Engineer, Kevin Houston. Crooked Eye Tommy :: BUTTERFLIES & SNAKES
Butterflies & Snakes are eleven memorable tunes penned by Ventura, California Crooked Eye Tommy front-person and band namesake Tommy Marsh and Tommy's brother, guitarist-vocalist, Paddy Marsh (who also plays in the band). Other C.E.T. members: Glade Rasmussen, bass; Tony Cicero, drums; Jimmy Calire, saxophone/piano/Hammond B3. “The album's title track, ‘Crooked Eye Tommy,’ is sort of an autobiography," states Tommy. “I wrote it when we decided to name the band Crooked Eye Tommy. I was born with two lazy eyes, so the imagined discussion between a nurse and onlookers in the classic baby window at the hospital was a cool way to illustrate the way people can be cruel without even thinking about it.

Blues singer Josh White to be honored with statue
GREENVILLE, SC - Blues singer Josh White’s influence spanned continents and generations. Before he became a musical innovator and civil rights activist, White was singing on the streets of Greenville to help ease his family’s desperate poverty. He left the Upstate as a teenager in the early 1930s. A decade later he became the first African-American entertainer to give a command performance at the White House.
Despite his million-selling single “One Meatball” and the postage stamp that bears his face, White’s name isn’t as familiar as those of other blues musicians. His impact, though, is undeniable. Musicians like Bob Dylan, John Fogerty and Jack White all were influenced by his Piedmont style of blues.
